Step-Up Transformer Calculation
A step-up transformer is used to increase the voltage level. The number of turns in the primary coil is greater than the number of turns in the secondary coil. The voltage across the secondary coil is greater than the voltage across the primary coil. The ratio of the number of turns in the primary coil to the number of turns in the secondary coil is equal to the ratio of the voltage across the primary coil to the voltage across the secondary coil.
Formula
The formula to calculate the number of turns in the secondary coil is:
Ns/Np = Vp/Vs
where Ns is the number of turns in the secondary coil, Np is the number of turns in the primary coil, Vp is the voltage across the primary coil and Vs is the voltage across the secondary coil.
Given Data
Vp = 220V
Vs = 200V
Np = 600
Calculation
Using the formula:
Ns/Np = Vp/Vs
Ns/600 = 220/200
Ns/600 = 11/10
Ns = (11/10) * 600
Ns = 660
Answer
The number of turns in the secondary coil is 660.
