Given:

  • Distance of object from convex mirror (u) = 10 cm

  • Focal length of convex mirror (f) = 15 cm



To find:

  • Position of image (v)

  • Nature of image



Solution:

  • Step 1: Using the mirror formula, we can find the position of the image:



1/f = 1/v + 1/u


1/15 = 1/v + 1/10


1/v = 1/15 - 1/10


1/v = (2 - 3)/30


1/v = -1/30


v = -30 cm


Therefore, the position of the image is -30 cm. The negative sign indicates that the image is formed behind the mirror.



  • Step 2: Using magnification formula, we can find the nature of the image:



m = -v/u


m = (-(-30))/10


m = 3


As the magnification is positive, the image is erect. Also, as the magnification is greater than 1, the image is magnified. Therefore, the nature of the image is virtual, erect and magnified.
