Given data:
Weight of yarn to be wound, W = 10 kg
Tex count of yarn, t = 40 tex
Machine speed, S = 1000 m/min
Efficiency of machine, η = 90%

We know that tex count of a yarn is defined as the weight in grams of 1000 meters of yarn. Therefore, the weight of 1000 meters of 40 tex yarn can be found as:

Weight of 1000 meters of yarn = (40/1000) kg = 0.04 kg

Now, the weight of yarn wound per minute by the machine can be found as:

Weight of yarn wound per minute = S × Wt/1000

where Wt is the weight of 1000 meters of yarn.

Substituting the given values, we get:

Weight of yarn wound per minute = 1000 × 0.04 × 0.9 = 36 kg/min

Therefore, the time required to wind 10 kg of yarn can be found as:

Time required = W/Weight of yarn wound per minute = 10/36 = 0.2778 hours or 16.67 minutes
