The slip of the rotor w.r.t. the forward rotating field,
sf = (ns-n)/ns ……………..(1)
Since the backward rotating flux rotates opposite to that of the stator, the sign of n must be changed.
The slip of the rotor w.r.t. the backward rotating field,
sb = [ns-(-n)]/ns = (ns+n)/ns …… (2)
Subtracting 1 from 2, we get,
sb-sf = [(ns+n)/ns]- [(ns-n)/ns] = 2n/ns = 2x1969/2372 = 1.67
