With reference to National Parks in India, consider the following stat...
Statement 1: State governments can declare an area of ecological importance as a National Park under the Wild Life (Protection) Act of 1972.

This statement is correct. The Wild Life (Protection) Act of 1972 is a legislation enacted by the Government of India for the protection of wildlife and conservation of natural habitats. Under this act, state governments have the authority to declare an area of ecological importance as a National Park. National Parks are established to protect and conserve the biodiversity and natural heritage of a particular area.

Statement 2: Grazing of livestock is permitted in a National Park.

This statement is incorrect. Grazing of livestock is not permitted in a National Park. National Parks are designated areas where the natural habitat and wildlife are protected. The primary objective of establishing National Parks is to conserve and preserve the natural ecosystem and biodiversity. All kinds of human activities, including grazing of livestock, are strictly prohibited in National Parks to prevent any disturbance to the flora and fauna.

Statement 3: No alteration of boundaries of a National Park shall be made except on the recommendation of the National Biodiversity Authority.

This statement is incorrect. The alteration of boundaries of a National Park is not dependent on the recommendation of the National Biodiversity Authority. The power to alter the boundaries of a National Park lies with the state government. The state government can modify the boundaries of a National Park if necessary, based on scientific and ecological considerations, after following the due process specified under the Wild Life (Protection) Act of 1972.

Therefore, the correct answer is option 'A' - 1 only.
