Given below are two statements:Statement I: Cr2+ is oxidising and Mn3...
Statement I: Cr2 is oxidising and Mn3 is reducing in nature.

- Cr2: This is a compound of chromium where the oxidation state of chromium is +2. In this compound, chromium tends to lose electrons and get oxidized. Thus, it acts as an oxidizing agent.
- Mn3: This is a compound of manganese where the oxidation state of manganese is +3. In this compound, manganese tends to gain electrons and get reduced. Thus, it acts as a reducing agent.

Therefore, Statement I is correct.

Statement II: Sc3 compounds are repelled by the applied magnetic field.

- Sc3: This is a compound of scandium where the oxidation state of scandium is +3. Scandium is a transition metal and shows paramagnetism. Paramagnetic substances are attracted by the applied magnetic field, not repelled.

Therefore, Statement II is incorrect.

Hence, the correct option is A) Statement I is incorrect but Statement II is correct.

Given below are two statements:Statement I: Cr2+ is oxidising and Mn3...
Cr+2: [Ar]3d4
Cr+2 is reducing as its configuration changes from d4 to d3(t2g3)
Mn+3 is oxidising in nature.
Mn+2: [Ar] 3d5 (extra stability)
Statement I is incorrect
Sc+3: [Ar]
diamagnetic - repelled by magnetic field.
Statement (II) is correct.
