  • Prokaryotes and eukaryotes are the two different types of cells.
  • Eukaryotic cells contain membrane-bound organelles, such as the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria while prokaryotic cells do not but the ribosome is the only organelle that can be seen in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
  • Prokaryotic and eukaryotic ribosomes perform the same functions that is protein synthesis, however, eukaryotic ribosomes are much larger than prokaryotic ones.

Correct ans is ribosomes because they are not membrane bound...and as we know prokaryotes have non membrane bound organelles so ribosomes are present in prokaryotes because other options have mem bound organelles which can't be present in prokaryotes..ribosome in prokaryotes is 70S type and in eukaryotes it is of 80S type...

Organelles in Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells have many differences, including the presence or absence of certain organelles. However, there is one organelle that is present in both types of cells: ribosomes.

What are Ribosomes?

Ribosomes are small organelles that are responsible for protein synthesis. They are composed of two subunits made up of RNA and protein molecules. Ribosomes can be found in the cytoplasm of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

Prokaryotic Ribosomes

In prokaryotic cells, ribosomes are free-floating in the cytoplasm. They are smaller than eukaryotic ribosomes, and are composed of one large and one small subunit. Prokaryotic ribosomes are involved in the synthesis of proteins that are used within the cell.

Eukaryotic Ribosomes

In eukaryotic cells, ribosomes can be found in the cytoplasm and on the surface of the endoplasmic reticulum. They are larger than prokaryotic ribosomes, and are composed of one large and one small subunit. Eukaryotic ribosomes are involved in the synthesis of proteins that are used within the cell, as well as those that are exported outside of the cell.

Conclusion

Ribosomes are present in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, and are responsible for protein synthesis. While they are structurally similar in both types of cells, they may differ in their location and function.
