In what ratio must tea worth Rs. 60 per kg be mixed with tea worth Rs....
Given:
Price of tea A = Rs. 60/kg
Price of tea B = Rs. 65/kg
Selling price of mixture = Rs. 68.20/kg
Profit = 10%

To find: Ratio in which tea A and tea B must be mixed

Solution:
Let us assume that tea A and tea B are mixed in the ratio of x:y
So, x units of tea A and y units of tea B are mixed to form (x+y) units of mixture.

Cost price of x units of tea A = Rs. 60x
Cost price of y units of tea B = Rs. 65y

Total cost price of (x+y) units of mixture = (60x + 65y)

Given, selling price of mixture = Rs. 68.20/kg
Profit = 10%

Profit% = (Profit/Cost Price) * 100
10% = [(Selling Price - Cost Price)/Cost Price] * 100
10% = [(68.20 - Cost Price)/(Cost Price)] * 100
10% = [68.20/Cost Price - 1] * 100
110% = 68.20/Cost Price * 100
Cost Price = 68.20/1.1 = Rs. 62/kg (approx.)

Now, using the assumption that tea A and tea B are mixed in the ratio of x:y, we can form an equation based on the cost price of the mixture.

Cost price of (x+y) units of mixture = 60x + 65y
= (60*(x+y)/(x+y))*(x+y) + (65*(x+y)/(x+y))*(x+y)
= (60x + 65y + 5x + 5y)

We know that the cost price of mixture = Rs. 62/kg (approx.)

So, (60x + 65y + 5x + 5y)/(x+y) = 62
=> 65x + 70y = 62(x+y)
=> 3x = 2y
=> x/y = 2/3

Therefore, tea A and tea B must be mixed in the ratio of 3:2 (option A is correct).
