Verified Answer
A child is looking for his father. He went 90 meters in the east befor...

The child moves from A to B 90 metres eastwards upto B, then turns right and moves 20 metre upto C, then turns right and moves upto 30 metre upto D. Finally he turns right and moves upto 100 metre upto E.
So AB = 90 metre, BF = CD = 30 metre,
So, AF = AB - BF = 60 metre
Also DE = 100 metre, DF = BC = 20 metre
So, EF = DE - DF = 80 metre
By Pythagoras theorem here

So from starting point his father was 100 metre away.

A child is looking for his father. He went 90 meters in the east befor...
Solution:

In this question, we are given that a child is looking for his father. He went 90 meters in the east before turning to his right. He went 20 meters before turning to his right again to look for his uncle's place 30 meters from this point. His father was not there. From there he went 100 meters to his north before meeting his father in a street. We need to find out how far did the son meet his father from the starting point.

Let us solve this question step by step:

Step 1: Initial position of the child = Starting point

Step 2: From the starting point, the child went 90 meters in the east before turning to his right.

Step 3: After turning right, the child went 20 meters before turning to his right again to look for his uncle's place 30 meters from this point.

Step 4: From the uncle's place, the child went 100 meters to his north before meeting his father in a street.

Step 5: We need to find out how far did the son meet his father from the starting point.

Let us draw a diagram to understand the given information:

![image.png](attachment:image.png)

From the diagram, we can see that:

The distance between point C and D = 30 meters

The distance between point B and C = 20 meters

The distance between point A and B = 90 meters

The distance between point D and E = 100 meters

Therefore, the total distance covered by the child = AB + BC + CD + DE = 90 + 20 + 30 + 100 = 240 meters

Finally, the distance between the starting point (point A) and the point where the child met his father (point E) = AE = AD + DE

AD = AB + BC + CD = 90 + 20 + 30 = 140 meters

Therefore, AE = AD + DE = 140 + 100 = 240 meters

Hence, the son met his father 100 meters from the starting point.

Therefore, the correct answer is option D.
