Volume content of gas = 0.06%
Volume of mixture = 1 L
At STP

To Find:
Number of molecules of the gas in 1 L of the mixture

Solution:

1. Calculation of Volume of gas in the mixture

Volume content of gas = 0.06%

= (0.06/100) x 1 L

= 0.0006 L

2. Calculation of number of moles of gas

Volume of gas = 0.0006 L

At STP, 1 mole of gas occupies 22.4 L

So, number of moles of gas = volume of gas/22.4

= 0.0006/22.4

= 2.68 x 10^-5 moles

3. Calculation of number of molecules of gas

1 mole of gas contains 6.023 x 10^23 molecules

So, number of molecules of gas = number of moles x Avogadro's number

= 2.68 x 10^-5 x 6.023 x 10^23

= 1.613 x 10^19 molecules

Therefore, the number of molecules of the gas in 1 L of the mixture is 1.613 x 10^19, which is option D.
